Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Embellished

I ran across a display of Revlon lip glosses that had been marked half off, and Embellished caught my eye.  Now that the weather is getting cooler, I've been gravitating towards darker lip colors, and Embellished is a vampy dark wine with fuschia and violet glitter.  I'm not sure if it's just my Rite Aid or if all of them do it, but occasionally I'll find items that are current season and yet marked half off.  Gotta love that!

I'm a fan of Revlon's Colorburst lip gloss formula, as I find it to be  comfortable to wear, non-sticky, and with an average wear time of about 2-3 hours.  I need a gloss that makes my lips feel hydrated, and these contain sweet almond oil and Vitamin E, which seems to do the job.  The doe foot applicator feels plush and does a good job of applying the gloss, although I find myself using my finger to smooth things out.

Embellished (shade)

Embellished does provide a wash of color, but it's nowhere as intense as the color in the tube.  The sparkle from the glitter is much more subtle as well, although it's there.  You are definitely not getting a glitter bomb here, although I do wish the glitter translated a bit more.  The sparkles are just so pretty in the tube!

Definitely a wearable color for me, and I prefer using it over a lip stain, as the color can appear a bit blotchy over my bare lips.  Embellished was $7.49 regular priced at Rite Aid, making it $3.75 on sale.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Papaya Review, Swatches & Comparison

RiteAid had some random Colorburst Lipglosses on sale for 75% off a few weeks back and I was able to snag Papaya, a lovely coral with a faint microshimmer.  I don't know if it being so deeply discounted means that Revlon is discontinuing this shade and I don't see it currently listed on their site, but that would be a shame if so.  It's a winner, in my humblest.  Vibrant without being overwhelming, this is a great summer color.







I find the Colorburst Lipglosses to be comfortable on and last about 2 hours on me before needing to be reapplied.  They are relatively non-sticky and do have some hydrating ingredients such as sweet almond oil, avocado and olive fruit extract,  hyaluronic acid, and vitamin e. 

I dug out some of my other glosses and lip balms to compare, and the closest in color ended up being another new item I got recently, Clinique's Chubby Stick in Mega Melon.  No dupes, though.

There are some online retailers such as Amazon still carrying Papaya and the price seems to range from $5-7.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Strawberry

Rite Aid had 40% off of Revlon products this week, so I decided to try the Colorburst Lipgloss in Strawberry, a lovely watermelon pink/red with silver shimmer.  I've been a fan of the Colorburst Lip Butters and was interested to see how the lip glosses in this line performed.  They are billed as "a pop of weightless color with vivid, mirror-like shine".   

The applicator is different - it's flexible, curved, and gives a bit when pressed against the lips.  This is supposed to help with even application of color.  The formula includes moisturizers and anti-oxidants, and I did indeed find this a comfortable gloss to wear.  It's lightweight but moisturizing, and wears surprisingly well for a gloss that is relatively non-sticky.  Wear time was probably 2 hours for me, but I'm constantly sipping on something so not much lasts long on me.

There are 15 colors available, including four new ones for the summer.  What did surprise me in looking at the color selection at my Rite Aid was the predominance of neutral and brown tones.  The only two that really appealed to me were Strawberry and a vibrant coral color whose name escapes me.  I chose Strawberry because of the shimmer, as the coral was a cream shade and I'm well stocked on those.    

The shimmer does make this ever so slightly gritty - nothing that was uncomfortable, but there is some texture there.   I could not tell any discernable fragrance or taste, although I've seen other reviews that said there was a slight vanilla fragrance that dissipates quickly.
For about $6, I think this is a really nice lip gloss!
