NOTD: I Only Shop Vintage Sephora by OPI

Disclaimer:  I purchased this.
Gold in all it's many variations seems appropriate for this time of year, so I Only Shop Vintage was my polish selection this week. It's from the now discontinued Sephora by OPI line, which I really liked.  The new Sephora line of polishes haven't really tempted me, as I think I've only bought one and have yet to try it out.
I really don't even need the excuse of Christmas holidays to break out a gold polish, as it's a color that I think looks good year round.  This one is more of golden amber and I love the glass flecks which give it a glowing shimmer that is not over the top but still plenty festive.
Today is my last day of work before my "Christmas sabbatical" of 2 weeks off.  Joy to the Earth :-)

NOTD: Gilded Lacquer Look with JINsoon's Coquette

My Christmas NOTD features some traditional colors for the season:  red and gold.  Coquette by JINsoon provides the red, with Keep Me On My Mistletoes by Sephora by OPI (now discontinued) providing the champagne gold foil background.
Nostalgia, Coquette
Coquette has enough of a jelly finish to give some translucence, and the finished look reminds me of of a gilded red lacquer.  JINsoon polishes are on the pricier side at $18, but I've liked every single one I've tried.
I don't know if it's because it's no longer available, but Keep Me on My Mistletoes (second from left) is my favorite gold foil polish.  It was the first Sephora by OPI polish I ever bought, back when paying $9.50 for a bottle of polish was a splurge.
I hope everyone who celebrates is having a lovely Christmas :-)

NOTD: It's a Hard Knock Life with Justa' Pinch of Glitter

Well, dang if that couldn't have been a great song title.  Because sometimes it is a hard knock life and you need just a pinch of glitter.  Which I have this week.  My hard knock life is represented by my hangnails, which seem to sprout back as soon as I clip them.  Obviously, my life's not Hunger Games hard knocks or anything like that :-)
I received Deborah Lippman's Hard Knock Life in a Barney's gift bag, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed at my luck of the draw in color.  It's a very nice polish, but the color is not that original.  However, I really like it with a matte topcoat (I used Julep's), as it gives an industrial/modern vibe.
The now discontinued Justa' Pinch of Glitter by Sephora by Opi is a great compliment glitter with it's clear base and black, grey, silver microglitter/medium round silver glitter.  I'm glad I picked it up when all the Sephora by OPI polishes were on clearance.

Haulin' v. 6: More Sephora by OPI Discontinued Polishes

Disclaimer:  I purchased these.
Here are the last of the Sephora by OPI polishes that I recently ordered, in anticipation of them being gone forever at some point in the near future (discontinued, don't cha know).  Currently on sale 3 for $10 at Sephora:
  • Looks Like Rain, Dear:  Gold with silver holo glitter
  • In the Shadows:  Dark reddish brown cream
  • Why Yellow There...:  Pale yellow cream
  • The Golden Age:  Champagne gold glitter
  •  S-Age is Just a Number:  Gold with green/blue multichrome finish and a Chanel Peridot dupe, from what I understand.
  • Is She for Reel?:  Shimmering chrome gray foil
  • Casanova is So into Me:  My bottle just says Casanova, but apparently the full name is Casanova is So into Me.  Petunia pink cream.
  • Just a Pinch of Glitter:  Silver glitter in a graphite gray base.
  • I'm with Brad:  Blackened crimson shimmer
  • Mauvie Star in the Making:  Pink/lavender/gold glitter
  • On Stage:  Medium plum cream (not as pink as it looks in the picture)
  • Lights, Glammer-a, Action!:  Silver/teal glitter
That's it, I promise!  Unless I find some other colors on sale somewhere:-)

NOTD: Mahogany by China Glaze with Come to Paparazzi

Disclaimer:  I purchased these.
I know I just wore Come to Papa-razzi a few weeks back, but I like it so much that I'm wearing it again.  This time I layered it over the milk chocolate goodness that is Mahogany.
Mahogany was part of the much anticipated Capital Colours collection from China Glaze.  Wouldn't it be exciting if they released another collection for the second movie based on the Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire?  Doesn't look like that's going to be happening, though.

Sephora by OPI Goes Bye Bye!

Disclaimer:  I purchased these.
As you may already be aware, Sephora by OPI (SOPI) polishes are being discontinued and have been on sale for a while at sephora.com and in store.  I've also heard of them popping up at outlets like TJ Maxx.  Sephora sale prices have typically been $4.50/bottle, but you can also buy three for $10.  I bought 3 last Sunday, but the colors were already starting to thin out with pinks and reds being pretty much gone.
I pulled out my SOPI polishes so I could see what others I might want to pick up before they are gone forever.  Um, it's pretty easy to see what color families I'm partial to :-)  I've got 15 of the regular sized bottles and 6 mini's, but what surprised me the most was how many SOPI glitters I have - definitely the majority of the glitters in my collection.
Sephora will be replacing SOPI with their Sephora X brand, which I have not tried.  SOPI's were originally priced higher than regular OPI polishes at $9.50 per bottle, which is why I'd sometimes see them called $OPI on nail blogs :-)
I did like the formula on these and found them to be good performers, by and large.  It was also easy to pick up some of the special collection sets on sale at some point, which is harder to do with regular OPI polishes.
Bohemian Brights mini collection
For those reasons, I'll miss SOPI polishes and ordered 12 more online.  In tribute to their demise, here are some of manicures I've done with SOPI polishes.

NOTD: Come to Paparazzi from Sephora by OPI

Disclaimer:  I purchased this.
If you are not already aware, Sephora is discontinuing the Sephora by OPI polishes.  They are all half price right now, so I picked up Come to Paparazzi recently.  Part of the Jewelry Top Coats collection, Come to Paparazzi features a mixture of large gold, medium black, and micro copper glitter in a clear base.
I trimmed my nails after last week's manicure with Sprung by OPI and then topped with Come to Paparazzi.  While the micro copper glitter gets lost in Sprung, I still like how it looks and think it gives an extra dimension to the already gorgeous Sprung.
To give an idea of how Come to Paparazzi looks over a lighter polish, here is 2 coats over the cream colored Bunny by Julep.  Bunny is not the easiest polish to work with, so I'm less than happy with my application, but it is what it is :-\
Are you going to pick up any of the Sephora by OPI polishes before they disappear for good?

NOTD: Molly by Julep and Be-Claus I Said So from Sephora by OPI

Molly, Be-Claus I Said So
Yes, I broke out the Christmas glitter.  I don't know if that's because I've been jonesing for cooler weather or because it was a good complement to the deep red cream Molly.  Perhaps a bit of both.

Molly is not a color I would have sought out on my own, but I got her in a Julep mystery box last month.  Something about the color was saying "fall" to me, so I used it for both my pedicure and manicure.  Two coats were plenty and the formula was problem free.  The biggest problem I have with Julep polishes has to do with polish pooling on the wand, which is longer than your normal polish wand due to the bottle design.  I used Seche Vite base and top coats, and wear time on the Juleps has been good - 5-6 days with some tip wear but no chipping.

Be-Claus I Said So was part of last year's holiday Glitter and Sparkle 4 color glitter set from Sephora by OPI.  It's a red glitter with micro and medium hex sizes in a clear base.  You've also got a few (and I really mean a few) silver hex glitters in the mix.  They are really pointless, as I got one silver glitter amongst all ten nails, and every time I see it I think it's lint or something.  Unbeknownst to me until I took this photo, there is also some purple micro glitter peeking out in there.

I dabbed Be-Claus I Said So on the tips, which I think gave a nice glow from within effect without screaming "glitter" on an already bold look.  Oh, and I chopped my nails off, which I do periodically.

Disclosure:  I bought these.

NOTD: Neutral Beauty & Only Gold for Me

For some reason, I'm really drawn to Neutral Beauty, a camel colored cream polish I got as part of the Bohemian Brights Sephora by OPI set.  Maybe because I'm attracted to neutrals in general, maybe because this kind of color is flattering with my coloring, or maybe because I wear a ton of clothes that this looks good with.  Neutral Beauty is a two coater and can go on a bit thick, but tends to even itself out pretty well.
Neutral Beauty, Only Gold for Me
I topped it with Only Gold for Me, one of the Jewelry top coat glitters available at Sephora. I believe I got this as part of a holiday set, as I doubt I would have paid $9.50 for it on it's own.  Regardless, I like it!

 Disclosure:  I bought these.

Sephora by OPI Bohemian Brights Mini Nail Colour Set & NOTD

Bohemian Brights mini nail colour set
I think Bohemian Brights may be my favorite boxed mini collection of the season!  I love these colors, they are just "me".  First up is Let's Hear it For the Free Spirit!, a soft copper gold flecked foil.  I don't have anything like this, so pretty!  Next is What Aura Gonna Wear?, a medium fuschia pink cream.  Not super unique, but a pretty summer color.  It's Totally Karma is a vibrant granny apple green cream.  I don't have anything like this in my collection, so a welcome addition.
Let's Hear it For the Free Spirit!
Neutral Beauty is a camel beige cream and gave me grand ideas to attempt some kind of nail art using it as a base.  Until I realized how much work nail art is, and decided to not go there.  That's What Fringe is For is a pretty peach with silver and pink microshimmer.  Finishing up the collection is Happy Earth Day to Me, a gorgeous dark olive/army green with a faint gold shimmer.  I had originally thought it was brown until I got it outside.

I took these pictures a day after applying and there is some faint tip wear.  I did two coats but think three is probably needed, as there are a few light patches visible in the sun.  There is not a single color in here that I would not wear, so I was quite happy to get this online from Sephora on sale for $17.

Disclosure:  I bought this.
