Chanel Cream Blush in Intonation

Described by Chanel as an "innovative powder-cream formula with sheer yet vibrant pigments for instant luminosity", the glowing reviews I saw online pretty much guaranteed I was going to have to try one of these babies out.  Of the two shades released in Chanel's spring 2014 collection, I chose the limited edition Intonation.  It looked slightly less intense than the reddish pink Chamade, and I'm sure the whole "limited edition" thing did it's number on my head:-)

Fortunately, the coral color is quite lovely and somewhat unique to my collection.  It's bright without looking garish, although a light touch is definitely in order.  I learned that the hard way when I applied too much and had to buff, buff, buff the color out so that I did not look like Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"

I use my finger to apply a small amount to the cheek and then use a brush to blend it out.  The cream to powder formula blends very nicely into the skin and the wear time is really, really good.  I was surprised at the end of the day to still see intact color, as my oily skin usually breaks most makeup down after 8 hours or so.

As much as I like Intonation, I don't feel the need to collect more as  I've got a number of other really nice cream blushes that are more reasonably priced.  My favorites are still the ones from The All Natural Face, with their $5.75 price, all natural formula, and how they look on the skin. 

Chanel Murmure Glossimer: Sample Series v. 7

I'm gathering that the French "murmure" means to whisper softly, and Chanel's Murmure Glossimer is indeed a soft whisper of coral pink.  It reminds me of the inside of a conch shell that I picked up while snorkeling in St. Martin in the West Indies.

The formula is lightweight, relatively non-sticky, and comfortable to wear.  For a sheer and somewhat milky gloss, Murmure does provide some color to my lips.  Soft color, but color nontheless.  It also has the benefit  of minimal settling in my lip lines, and would make a nice lip tint or lipstick topper if you are looking for more color impact.

At $29.50, I'm not sure it's a color I would invest in, given my currently overflowing stash of lip glosses.  I do think it's lovely and like the formula though!

Chanel Bohème Rouge Coco Hydrating Sheer Lipshine: Sample Series v. 6

I love samples, especially when there is enough product to allow you several uses so that you can really form an opinion. Factor in some of the more expensive brands like Chanel, and it's doubly nice when you can sample prior to purchase. 

Bohème was one of four new Rouge Coco Shine shades released this spring, and it's a lovely medium strawberry pink on me.  Interestingly, I've seen it described as a coral orange and as a fresh radiant red, but it definitely leans pink on me. 

It's sheer but can be built up enough that you get some color impact.  I like the finish a lot - plenty of sheen without the stickiness that can come with high shine.  The texture is lightweight and comfortable to wear, with a lasting power of about 3 hours. 

Quite pretty, but I'm not sure that it's unique enough to motivate me to purchase at $35.  I'll definitely use up the sample, however, and reserve the right to change my mind :-)
