Eco-Emi periodically offers bonus boxes which are a hodge podge of left-over items from their previous monthly subscription boxes. Since I've only been subscribing to Eco-Emi for a few months, I figured the likelihood of getting duplicate items was small, so I purchased one when I received an email saying they were available. I'm sure you are familiar for subscription boxes by now, and
Eco-Emi features organic and environmentally friendly beauty, lifestyle, and culinary items for $15/month, which includes shipping. There is currently a wait list, but you can sign up to receive notice when membership is open again.
In my bonus box was a new to me cosmetic and skincare brand,
Revolution Organics. The philosophy behind the company is to not only use natural and USDA certified organic ingredients, but to create items that are multi-tasking. In case you were not aware, the USDA certified organic seal can be used for products that are at least 95% certified
organic and whose formulation has been approved by the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP).
Products that contain between 70-95% can carry a label of ‘made with
certified organic ingredients’ but cannot carry the USDA seal on the
packaging.
The Freedom Gloss I received, Vibe, is formulated with 100% natural and 85% certified organic ingredients. I like it when companies provide information like this clearly on the label and remember being so impressed with early Korres product labeling because they were so specific with their ingredient lists and would give the percentage of natural or organic content. So Revolution Organics gets an A+ from me for how they present the Freedom Gloss, as a ton of information is included on the cylindrical cardboard tube that the gloss comes in.

Vibe (shade) |
The gloss formula is free of chemicals, mineral oil, petroleum,
artificial ingredients and parabens and is 100% natural and 85% organic. It contains plant proteins and extracts to deliver antioxidants and vitamins, jojoba oil to nourish and condition, shea butter to hydrate and moisturize, aloe vera and olive oil to sooth and soften, and mineral pigments to provide color. The shade Vibe is a terracotta color with gold and silver shimmer and feels very smooth on and wears comfortably. There is no stickiness and quite a bit of "slip". Here's the kicker - long wearing or particularly moisturizing it is not. I applied Vibe after lunch on Memorial Day, ran some errands for about an hour, and my lips were screaming for moisture. Vibe applies more sheer than it appears in the tube, which was also disappointing. I would have liked a bit more opacity as it's such a pretty color in the tube, but loses impact on the lips. I like it better when worn over a moisturizing lipstick, as it provides some sheen and shimmer plus wore more comfortably.

Vibe (sun) |
I received a full sized gloss that retails for $26, which more than paid for the Eco-Emi bonus box. I love that Vibe is natural, organic, and has lip treating abilities, but do wish it wore longer, was more pigmented, and made my lips feel moisturized. At $26, you can hope for those qualities. There are
five shades available - a red and 3 pinks in addition to Vibe, and they can be ordered online from the Revolution Organics site if these interest you. I'm still on the look out for a good organic/natural lip gloss, but am
starting to think that it's those dreaded petroleum byproducts that make
my lips feel lubricated. Say it ain't so!
