Murumuru Butter Bronzer in Light by Physician's Formula

Physician's Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer ($14.99) has gotten a lot of love from the beauty world, so when there was a 40% off sale going on at my local Rite Aid back in October, I picked the Light Butter Bronzer. After using it for close to two months, I thought it was time to add my thoughts to the mix.

First off, you are getting a generous 11 grams of product for your money. The packaging is classic Physician's Formula, which means it's a bit on the bulky side with an applicator stored in a bottom compartment.

The applicator is foam and does do a nice job of picking up product, but I prefer to use a brush. Using a brush does kick up some powder, but I'm okay with that. The Butter Bronzer does not look powdery on the skin in the least, which could be because it contains several different "butters", namely Murumuru, Cupuacu, and Tucuma butters. I've linked each butter to more information about them, but one interesting takeaway is that both Murumura and Tucuma are referred to as "vegetable silicones", in that they leave a protective film on the skin without clogging pores. I like!

The Butter Bronzers are available in two shades, but my Rite Aid only had the Light in stock. It's definitely more suited for those with fair/light complexions, and I like how easily it blends into my skin for a touch of color without looking obvious or overly ruddy in tone. I do use this to contour as well, and it also makes for a nice eyelid shade, especially as a subtle crease contour.

Overall, I think the Butter Bronzers are worth the hype! I almost picked up the darker version during Ulta's Black Friday sale, as all of the Physician Formula products were 50% off. I restrained myself as the lighter shade is working quite well for me, plus I have to draw the line somewhere. It's definitely been conspicuous consumption season around here.

Warm Nude Shimmer Strip All-in-1 Palette by Physicians Formula

I still seem to be in "collect all the highlighters" mode, so I decided to try Physician Formula's Custom Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Nude Palette.  It can be used on both your eyes and face, and I quite like it!

The shimmer strips are rather pricey for the drugstore (~$13-$14), so I waited until there was a 40% off sale at Rite Aid.  There are two versions available, Natural and Warm, but I went with the slightly darker Warm Nude.

These worked quite well as both eye shadow or a face highlight, and I like that you can focus on different squares or rows of the palette to vary the intensity of color.  Of course, just swiping your brush across the entire palette gives a lovely overall glow when used as a highlighter.

I would say wear time as an eyeshadow (with primer, always, for my oily lids) was about 8-9 hours with some fading.

As a highlighter, I felt like the product had faded and broken up a bit by the end of the day, so I would only rank it as about average in wear.  Warm Nude does give a nice glow to the skin without emphasizing skin texture. Definitely pretty!

Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Warm

Whew, that's a long name for this Physician's Formula blush.  I've admired these from afar for a while, and when I saw the new shade Warm, I hit my tipping point.  These are infused with natural plant extracts that are supposed to mimic the effects of endorphins as well as protect skin from environmental stressors, which I'm guessing is more clever marketing than anything.  However, these heart stamped compacts are really cute!

There is an enclosed brush located beneath the blush, which I haven't even tried.  I don't use brushes that come with products, as they are usually pretty crappy.  Because the color is rather subtle, I used a cheek contouring brush, as the flat but dense brush head did a good job of picking of color and buffing it out.

In sun

Warm provided a nice wash of color with a subtle shimmer that did brighten my face.  In fact, it may make a good bronzer for me, as it's not muddy but does provide a nice sun-kissed glow kind of effect.  I found it hard to overdo this blush, as most of the color palette is neutral with just a few dashes of coral and muted pink.  These blushes are violet scented, but I've got to say I've yet to notice the smell and I keep forgetting to sniff it to see, so it must be very muted.  

In shade

In addition to Warm, these come in 3 other shades - Pink, Natural, and Rose.  They retail for about $12 and I got mine at Ulta.  You'll notice that the plastic part that closes the compact is missing on mine - it broke off the first time I used it.  So, not the sturdiest packaging.  I've worn this the past few days and wear time is pretty good - I've got some fading after a full day's wear, but the blush is still present.  I do tend to layer powder blushes over a gel or cream blush, which helps to extend the wear of both.  Overall, I like!
