Julep is known mainly as a Seattle based nail salon that makes their own polishes. Julep has a strong online presence via a subscription based monthly program and they also sale their polishes via Sephora. Established in 2007 by a former Starbucks employee that also has a law degree from Yale, Jane Parks, the company recently received a hefty chunk of change to expand into a variety of other beauty products.

Creamy and intensely pigmented, this red is supposed to be flattering to all complexions. It's one of those one swipe colors and I had no problems with the color feathering or migrating. Lady in Red wore for a good 7 hours with slight fading due to drinking some soda. It wore comfortably for most of those 7 hours and did not dry my lips out, but I did use the Hemp organic clear lipstick I got in my Eco Emi box as a moisturizing base underneath.
While I'm still not completely confident wearing bold lip colors, I'm glad I found a red that I really like and would wear! Both the New York and Paris Jazz trios include Lady in Red and retail for $28 regular, $22.40 if you are a Julep Maven, although they are both showing as out of stock at the moment. I guess they were really popular! Did you get one, and if so, what do you think?
Disclaimer: I purchased this.
OOoooh that looks so pretty, also I think any red would look great with your skin and hair color!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I always feel so self conscious with bold colors, but I'm slowly getting over it.
DeleteLulubelle. please don't take this wrong, but I actually think that this red is much more flattering on you than the paler shades. You are a very lovely woman and it really lights you up! Don't fear it; ROCK it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, crystesmom! I shall attempt more bold colors going forward :-)
