Finish 17 in 2017: April by Buxom with FOTD's

I finally finished April, the glimmering ice pink lip polish by Buxom. I say finally, because I actually included this in my first project pan, which started back in July. April was a little less than half full at that time, and it took me almost 6 months to empty her out. But progress is progress, and I'm excited by this small accomplishment of using up a gloss that I've had in my stash for several years.

I made faster progress once I took April to work with me, as I would reach for it whenever my lips felt dry. I love Buxom's glosses, from the slight tingling feeling upon initial application, to how they actually do hydrate my lips and keep them from feeling dry or chapped. The shimmer finishes have very little pigment to them, but they do make nice lip toppers over lipsticks.

Here I'm wearing it layered over Tarte's Energy Lipsurgence pencil, which is also in my project pan. It's one of those products that is supposed adjust to your body's pH/temperature (or something) to turn your own unique shade of pink. I have a feeling it's pretty much the same on everyone :-)

On my eyes that day I was wearing Smash and Peekaboo by ColourPop, which makes for an easy work friendly look.

In another look, I paired April with the lipstick Sunday by Sunday Riley, which is a soft cherry.

On my eyes I'm wearing Peekaboo again, but I lined my upper and lower waterlines in black for a bit of definition. I like how it turned out, although the liner typically wears off in a flash, sadly.

I've got quite a few more of the shimmer lip polishes by Buxom in my collection, so I don't anticipate purchasing any more for quite a while. They are still my favorite gloss formula though, and I'm tempted every time I see a new gift set come out - especially if they are the mini sizes. Since I'm on a quest to downsize my makeup collection, I will resist.

Project Pan 17 in 2017 February Update

I'm steadily plugging along with my Pan 17 in 2017 project, and thought it was time for an update. These photo's were taken on February 19th, so let's see how I'm doing!

I did finish the Supergoop! CC Cream, which was timely, considering it's expiration date was in February.

Yes, there was a fair amount left in the tube that I could not squeeze out, but I decided to move on to my next foundation item in the Project Pan - the deluxe sample of the Clinique CC Cream.

These lip items are hanging on for dear life. I did cut the top of the Sunday Riley lipstick off, and I've got to say I like using it more now. The inside of the lipstick is creamier and I apply it with my fingers. I've been topping it with the Buxom Cherry gloss to good effect. Gah, it looks like the Cherry gloss has hardly budged.

I'm having a bit more success with the powder products, fortunately. Both Naked and Peachy Keen get used almost daily to set my eye primer and as a crease transition shade, respectively.

Apparently the only before picture I have of the Peau Vierge face powder is from July 5th, when I put it in my first project pan.  I carried it over to the Pan 17 in 2017 project, and considering how big it is, I'm making steady progress.  I use it as my finishing powder, so it gets used regularly. I promise you, doing a project pan makes you seriously think twice about buying more makeup!

Beauty Resolution #2: Thin the Herd with Project Pan 2017

I Googled for a definition of Project Pan, and this is what I got: Project Pan is basically a challenge for people who have lots of make-up. You choose some items (make up and toiletries) which you challenge yourself to use fully before the end of the year to help get your make-up collection closer to your "ideal" make-up.

Some people restrict themselves from buying new items until they finish up the ones they are trying to pan. My goals for Project Pan 2017 are primarily to finish products that are older or have just a small amount left to them and to restrict new purchases to items that are unique to my collection. I will not force myself to use up items I do not enjoy, as life is too short and I have too much to chose from. 

I've chosen 17 items to use up in 2017, and some are carry overs from the Project Pan I started in 2016. I guess I should report on how I've done with that particular group of items, shouldn't I? All links are to previous reviews.

I finished three of the items above: the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, the Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge Correcteur, and the Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Illuminator.  I'm just about done with the Blonde Bombshell eyebrow pencil by Inika, which is now an inch long. I'm carrying over to Project Pan 2017 the Sunday Riley lipstick in Sunday, the Buxom lip glosses Cherry and April, the Supergoop CC Cream, and the Le Metier de Beaute eyeshadow in Naked.

New items for Project Pan 2017 are:

• deluxe sample of Clinique CC cream that's about half used
• Le Metier de Beaue Peau Vierge (about 1/4 left in bottle)
• stila one step bronzer (1/4 left in bottle)
• TriDerma Pore Reducing Anti Aging Serum: level is at the top of my index finfer

• Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion: this is so old it's not even made anymore and is almost full. 
• Peachy Keen eyeshadow by Le Metier de Beaute
• Manna Kadar Priming Lip Stain in Lucky. I've used this quite a bit and cannot tell how much is left in the tube.
• Korres Cherry Oil lip gloss in Golden Brown, which has got to be at least 5 years old. Amazingly, it's still good but let's not tempt fate even more.
• Urban Decay's Lo-Fi from the Gwen Stefani blush palette.

• Blushing Beige blush by True Cosmetics, which is now TRUE Izaac Mizrahi. This is my oldest blush at about 5 years old?

• Nectar Ceramide Cream Blush by Elizabeth Arden, which will be 3 years old in April.

• Monster Super Shock Cheek by ColourPop: these dry out with time, so I better get busy.

I am finding that forcing myself to stick with some specific products has made me appreciate a few of them more. The Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Illuminator is really good and I find myself missing it now that it's gone. I've moved on to my Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Brightening Serum, but I think I like the Photo Op better. Once I've run through my under eye illuminators (I've got a BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector somewhere), I'll allow myself to repurchase my favorite.

Anybody else out there doing a Project Pan in 2017?
